MEA Engineering College is an active local chapter of National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL). NPTEL is one of the national coordinators of MHRD’s prestigious Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) programme – The Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) initiative by Indian Academia. All courses offered by NPTEL are part of SWAYAM. Students and faculty from MEA Engineering College can access all the study materials of the courses offered by NPTEL. They can also register for the courses offered by SWAYAM and NPTEL, enjoying the special benefits offered for the Local Chapter candidates. A few candidates from MEAEC also bagged “Elite” certification for the different courses as they were placed in top ranks in the certification exams. Mr. Mohammed Ranees K T (Assistant Professor – Department of Mechanical Engineering) is the Convener and SPOC of NPTEL at MEA Engineering College.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering provides Research labs for pre-final students. The students get a platform to explore and enhance their research skills, as well as to gain an understanding of the latest trends in computer science.
For every student studying pre-final year classes, the department organised a two-hour lab session per week. The Students are able to present topics in their own interest areas at the end of the semester. With the help of Latex, each student creates a paper and a set of presentation slides that follow the IEEE standard.
It provides students with a structured environment where they can experiment, collaborate and share ideas. Students can also take advantage of the lab’s schedule to plan their research projects ahead of time and make sure that they are on track with their studies.
The research lab provides pre-final students with a unique opportunity to develop their skills in a supportive environment, while also being exposed to new ideas and trends that will help them excel in their future careers.
