Civil Engineering Technical Association (CETA) was established in 2012 to provide a platform to enhance and encourage technical skills and non technical activities of Civil Engineering students. With excellent faculty to guide, CETA prepares its members to be tomorrow’s leaders in transforming the society by providing best solutions in planning, designing and construction.
Conducted a 2 day workshop on ETABS for civil engineering students on 13th March, 20th March 2019, 30th March 2019 and 6th April 2019.
In association with CETA, a Technical Quiz Competetion was organized by CADD centre for Civil Engineering Students on 3rd October 2019. Winners of 1st and 2nd round participated in 3rd round held at CADD Centre Regional Office Thrissur on 30th October 2019. Mr Fadi Anfas P. and Mr Nisthar Ali P.T., students of 7th semester won 4th place in National Level and 3rd place in Inernational Level Quiz Competition, held at Chennai.
The annual day programme of Civil Engineering Technical Association – CETA for the academic year 2018/19 , was conducted on 13th November 2019 at college auditorium. Programme was inaugurated by Dr. P R Sreemahadevan Pillai, Dean , University of Calicut & Director of Ahalia Group of Institutions in India . There were two technical sessions in the programme. In the morning session , a technical session was handled by the chief guest Dr. P R Sreemahadevan Pillai on “ Civil Engineering – Past, Present & Future “ . The second session was in the after noon , by Mr. Dinesh K.S. , Business Support , Cadd centre training services , Chennai on the topic “ Disruptive Civil Engineering”.
The programme started with inaugural session at 9.30 am. Welcome speech was by Mr. Anees K , Assistant Professor , CETA staff in charge. Dr Hema Nalini A V delivered the presidential address and inaugural address by chief guest, Dr P R Sreemhadevan Pillai. This was followed with felicitations by Dr. G Ramesh, Principal, MEAEC., Dr VH Abdul Salam, Director., Mr. Haneesh Babu KT, Vice principal., Mr. Sreeram S, DEAN of academics., Mr. Sadik Ali A, HOD, Dept of Mathematics., Dr. Abdul Majeed K K, HOD, Dept of Electronics & Communication Engineering. Department news letter “CIVIL TIMES” was also released in the function by the chief guest. The rank holders of Calicut university , International level tech quiz winners were appreciated in the programme. Ms. Salma Mol , staff member of civil department was also appreciated for invention of flood alarm system. Student president of CETA delivered the vote of thanks for the inaugural session.
First session on past present and future of civil engineering was handled by the chief guest Dr. P.R. Sreemahadevan Pillai. In that session students had a very good discussion with him regarding the development taking place in the field of civil engineering and modern construction methods. In the after noon session Mr. Dinesh K.S. interacted with the students regarding the advanced softwares in the civil engineering field. The program was successfully coordinated and completed by the effective planning and organizing of the executive members and guided by the staff in charges of CETA .
One day workshop for final year students on TEKLA steel structures was conducted on 19th October 2019 by TELITEK Engineering Calicut in association with CETA. Session was handled by Mr Askarali K, CEO of TELITEK Engineering.
CETA(CIVIL ENGINEERS TECHNICAL ASSOCIATION) conducted an introductory session on the topic “Formation Of ASCE Student Chapter In Technical Institution” on 16 October 2018 .The session was handled by Dr. Basil Gnanappa (Secretary of ASCE India southern region, director, faculty affairs and Centre for learning technology,Kalasalingam university Tamil Nadu). There were 110 number of participants in the Programme.
A 3-day Faculty Development Programme was conducted by the Department of Civil Engineering, MEA Engineering College, Perinthalmanna on 3rd, 4th , and 5th January 2019. The topics were on “Latex, Flipped Classroom and Research Funding” which were handled by eminent resource persons of various fields. The 1st day started with the topic “Latex” , which was handled by Mr. Arun Xavier , Asst. Professor , Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, Thrissur. On the 2nd day Mr. Alex Chacko, , Asst. Professor , Vidya Academy of Science and Technology, Thrissur , handled the session on Flipped Classroom. The last day’s topic under discussion was regarding the research funding. It was on 28th March 2019 , the students and staffs of civil engineering department celebrated the civil engineering technical association (CETA) day. As part of the CETA day celebration, different technical events were conducted for students , such as Quiz , Cad Draw , Seminar Presentation, Model Making etc. The Programme had 3 technical sessions handled by eminent resource persons. The first session was by Prof. Santosh G Thampi , Department of Civil Engineering , NIT Calicut on the topic “Water resource management in the context of recent flood in kerala “ . After the 1st session Prof. V.H Abdul Salam , Director , MEAEC Perinthalmanna shared his professional experience and made a talk on employability enhancement in the 2nd session. The last session was by Dr. Mohammed Firoz , Asst.Prof , Department of Architecture and Planning, NIT Calicut on the topic “ Changing dimensions of engineering education & employment in globalized era.

Laurie Baker International School of Habitat Studies (LaBISHaS), An autonomous subsidiary of Kerala State Nirmithi Kendram (KESNIK), Government of Kerala was conducted a one day workshop at MEA Engineering College. The workshop was very interesting and gave the opportunity to learn many issues in regards to green buildings.
The seminar and workshop was designed to discuss about Waste management, Sustainable architecture, Environment friendly building concept. There were 3 sessions. It was started at 10.00 am and ended at 4:15 pm
The first session was presented by Dr.P.R.Sree Mahadevan Pillai on the topic Waste management zero energy zero discharge . In short he presented various building designs to minimize waste produced by construction works and its materials. He also sights examples of foreign construction methods.
The second session was presented by Ar.Prof. Babu.K.K. on the topic Sustainable architecture . He explained various aesthetic appearances of buildings which are ecofriendly. And explained about durability of sustainable construction and its impact on environment.
The final session was presented by prof.V.K.Lakshmanan Nair on the topic Environment friendly building concept. He explained about filler slab and many other ecofriendly materials. This session provide better understanding on ecofriendy buildings. The program was successfully coordinated and completed by effective planning.
CETA, Civil Engineering Technical Association, MEA Engineering college, have always sought to conduct technical programs that greatly enhance the knowledge and skill of the
budding engineers in our college. COMPASSIO was the inaugural function of CETA-2017 which aimed at motivating the students and providing information on current developments in the field of civil engineering. The program comprised of two parts. The motivational talk was presided by Prof. Mathew C George, Associate Professor and Head, Thejus Engineering college. The second part was a technical talk of two sessions handled by sri. Jayadeep Thuvassery, the executive engineer at investigation subdivision of harbor engineering department, Bepore.
COMPASSIO was conducted on 04/11/2017. The program started with the inaugural session at 9:30 am. Welcome speech was provided by Shaik Mohammed K, president of CETA. Mrs. Yasmin.N, HOD, Dept of CE delivered the presidential address and the inaugural address by the chief guest, Prof. Mathew C George. His speech on the need of developing the curiosity to seek more knowledge and the importance of sharing idea was innovative. This was followed by felicitations by Dr. Rajin M Linus, Principal, MEAEC., Dr VH Abdul Salam, Director., Mr. Haneesh Babu KT, Vice principal., Mr. Sreeram S, DEAN of academics., Mr. Sadik Ali A, HOD, Dept of Mathematics., Mr. Iqbal, Tech club Coordinator. Profile presentation was done by Nabeel Ali, General Secretary, CETA. He gave a brief outline of the generations and growth of CETA and detailed future plan of CETA. Appreciation program was held for the best teachers of the academic year and appreciated the state best NSS volunteer award winner Mr. Ajmal PK and the state best program officer Mr. Faisal Jaffer, Assistant professor, S&H dept. The prize distribution of winners of Idea Pitching Competition conducted by IEDC MEA was also held in the program.
The motivational talk was delivered by Prof. Mathew C George. He is a well experienced Engineer who have master degree in structural engineering. He lead the session very interestingly. He used to share many real time examples and his experiences which make us to start learning to be a real engineer. He motivated the students as being one among them as a civil engineer.
The technical talk was on “ Advanced Surveying Techniques” was handled by Sri Jayadeep T. he is currently the executive engineer at investigation subdivision of harbor engineering department, Bepore and is a person with vast knowledge in advanced trends of modern surveying. He started his session with an introduction to traditional modes of surveying such as chain survey, plane table survey, compass survey, and theodolite survey. He then gave an elaborate description on various modern surveying methods including Total Station Surveying, Ultra Sound Survey, Laser Distance Measurement, 3D Laser Scanning survey& ariel photogrammetry. His account on surveying using GPS was particularly informative.
