On December 1, 2023, the workshop on the topic “TOTAL STATION” was conducted at theCE Department from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The event featured informative sessions, with Mr. Jazeel Shah P and Comprehensive insights into Total Station technology and its relevance in modern surveying practices. Attendees benefited from practical demonstrations and hands-on learning, making the event a valuable experience.

The aim of a site visit for steel structure and concrete building construction is to assess progress, ensure compliance with design specifications, and identify any potential issues. Objectives may include evaluating structural integrity, inspecting construction methods, checking material quality, and confirming adherence to safety standards. Additionally, the visit aims to facilitate effective communication between project stakeholders and ensure that the construction aligns with the approved plans and regulations.

A field visit to perinthalmanna sky lab project site has been carried for 21 CE Students as a part of participatory learning approach, which in turn expected to be beneficial for their Design of concrete structure paper and for executing their projects in next semesters. It is a 4 storey building site, wherein the construction of first floor was undergoing during the site visit.

To equip civil engineers with the knowledge, skills, and practical tools necessary to integrate sustainability principles into their design, construction, and management of civil infrastructure projects. This will enable them to contribute to the development of resilient, environmentally friendly, and resource-efficient infrastructure systems.

On 6th October 2023, the IE students Chapter in association with CETA was conducted a workshop on Project Management, Sharing industry experience at the ICT Room, in Civil department from 9:30 AM to 12:Noon. The event featured an informative session, with Mr. Abdul Nazir CV ,ME in Civil Engineering,Operation Manager, Ecomount Builders, Calicut. Attendees benefited from practical demonstrations and hands-on learning, making the event a valuable experience. The Q&A session fostered the students’ how to execute a project’ and ‘how to manage a project’, resulting in a well-received and enriching program.

On 15th September 2023, the IE students Chapter in association with CETA was conducted a program on water supply system planning, Sharing industry experience , via online from 11.00 AM to 12:Noon. The event featured an informative session, with Er. Prasad v , superintending engineer (retired), kerala water authority. Attendees benefited from practical demonstrations and experience sharing, making the event a valuable experience. The Q&A session fostered the students’ how to execute a drinking water project’ and ‘what are the challanges, resulting in a well-received and enriching program.

On 15th September 2023, the IE students Chapter in association with CETA,NSS was conducted a workshop on GPS survey.at Aripra Angadippuram panchath from 8.00 AM to 11:Noon. The event featured an informative session, with Er. Mohammed Anees K , Land surveyor Zodiac Ventures pvt Ltd ,Er Azmil bani K AP CE MEA engineering College. Attendees benefited from practical demonstrations on GPs survey and experience sharing on advanced surveying techniques, making the event a valuable experience. The Q&A session fostered the students’ how to execute a advanced surveying methods’ and ‘what are the challenges that has to be faced while doing survey, resulting in a well-received and enriching program.

On August 16, 2023, a workshop was conducted at the CE Seminar Hall from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM. The event featured the informative session, by Dr. P R Sreemahadevan Pillai , Principal , Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology on the topic “MAKING A PROJECT WORK CONSPICIOUS , CRETIVE AND COMPETITIVE”. The target audience for the session was the final year students of Civil engineering department. Event was a valuable experience for the attendees.

A technical session on the topic “Demo on BIM “by Jishnu K P, HOD EBIM Services, Cochin was organized by Department of Civil Engineering MEAEC on 1 November 2022. The session started at 10 am and ended by 11 am. There was a total of 50 participants for the session.

A workshop on the topic “Building information Modeling” by CAD CENTER, Indian Educational Enterprises(P)Ltd., Thiruvananthapuram, was organized by Department of Civil Engineering MEAEC on 14th November 2022. The session started at 10 am and ended by 4 pm. There were a total of 35 participants for the session.

A seminar on the topic “Beating Plastic Pollution “by Dr Hema Nalini A V, Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, MEAEC was organized by Department of Civil Engineering MEAEC on 29 October 2022. The session started at 11 am and ended by 12.15 pm. There were a total of 50 participants for the session.

The Civil engineering department of MEA Engineering College has organized a National Conference on Recent Advancements in Civil Engineering Research from 25th to 27th August 2021, 2.30 pm to 6.00 pm. The conference aimed to provide an opportunity for academicians, technologists, entrepreneurs, the engineering community, and students to put forward their ideas and findings related to recent advances in the research areas of Civil Engineering. It was a wonderful platform for the delegates to exchange their experiences with renowned plenary and featured speakers. The conference topics were included a wide variety of civil engineering subjects like Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Urban/Town and Country Planning, Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Quantity Survey and Valuation, Environmental Engineering, Geomatics, Hydro Informatics, Building Technology, Construction Management, etc.

The webinar was conducted through google meet and the same was streamed live through YouTube. The session started at 11 am and ended by 12.15 pm. The conference topics were included a wide variety of civil engineering subjects like Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Urban/Town and Country Planning, Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Quantity Survey and Valuation, Environmental Engineering, Geomatics, Hydro Informatics, Building Technology, Construction Management, etc. On 17th August 2020 , Dr. E J James , Pro Vice Chancellor , Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences , Coimbatore and former Executive Director of CWRDM, inaugurated the national conference. There were UG students , PG students, PhD scholars and Faculties from various colleges in India as the participants of the conference. Review panels of the conference includes eminent personalities from various institutes as well as from different industries. There were 4 invited lectures in the national conference. On 19th August 2020, the conference ended after the completion of all paper presentations and discussions by 6.00 PM.

Online Faculty development program on “NBA Accreditation Process” organized by Department of Civil Engineering, MEA Engineering College conducted from 20th May to 28th May 2020. The programme was conducted through the online platform of Zoom Video Communications. The theme of the Faculty development Programme was NBA accreditation Process and a brief knowledge on various criteria.

Workshop on “Bloom’s Teaching Strategies” organized by Department of Civil Engineering, MEA Engineering College, on 18 December 2019. The core objectives were Understanding the different teaching strategies, Bloom’s Taxonomy and understanding flipped classroom.

One day workshop for final year students on TEKLA steel structures was conducted on 19th October 2019 by TELITEK Engineering Calicut in association with CETA. Session was handled by Mr Askarali K, CEO of TELITEK Engineering.

MEA engineering college, Perinthalmanna in collaboration with Econstruct Design & Build Pvt Ltd. organized a 3 Day Online Workshop from July 12 to July 14, 2020.

Department of Civil Engineering organized a Webinar Series for its Final Year & Pre Final Year Students. The sessions was handled by Experts from Industry and the best minds from academia. Through this series of webinars, we are intending to enhance the knowledge of students and prepare them for the industry after their graduation. The event has enabled participants to learn about new techniques in Civil Engineering and share the required skills to make themselves effective facilitators. The program was conducted through Google Meet Platform.

A webinar series was conducted on 28th and 29th of July and 7th of August 2020 by CE Alumni Association through online platform. All speakers are Alumni of Civil Engineering department and are having renowned experience in various fields of Civil Engineering. It was extremely beneficial for all students and gave a link between theory knowledge and field experience. Participant list includes mainly final year and pre final year students, which also includes students from other colleges.

Department of Civil engineering organized a webinar on the topic – “An insight into the design of metro tunnels" on 16th May 2020. The session was handled by Mr. Jishnu R.B, Deputy General Manager , Metro Department , Intercontinental Consultants and Technocrats India Pvt Ltd , New Delhi. There were around 100 participants from 20 different colleges and from 2 industries.

The Extended lecture series organized by Department of Civil Engineering started at 9.10 AM on 6th February 2020 with the presidential address of Ms Jeeja Menon, H.O.D in charge.

The annual day programme of Civil Engineering Technical Association – CETA for the academic year 2018/19 , was conducted on 13th November 2019 at college auditorium. Programme was inaugurated by Dr. P R Sreemahadevan Pillai, Dean , University of Calicut & Director of Ahalia Group of Institutions in India . There were two technical sessions in the programme. In the morning session, a technical session was handled by the chief guest Dr. P R Sreemahadevan Pillai on “ Civil Engineering – Past, Present & Future “ . The second session was in the after noon , by Mr. Dinesh K.S. , Business Support , Cadd centre training services , Chennai on the topic “ Disruptive Civil Engineering”.

In association with CETA, a Technical Quiz Competetion was organized by CADD centre for Civil Engineering Students on 3rd October 2019. Winners of 1st and 2nd round participated in 3rd round held at CADD Centre Regional Office Thrissur on 30th October 2019. Mr Fadi Anfas P. and Mr Nisthar Ali P.T., students of 7th semester won 4th place in National Level and 3rd place in International Level Quiz Competition, held at Chennai.
